ANSES to deliver extra payment in April 2025: Who can access it?

The Administración Nacional de la Seguridad Social (ANSES) is gearing up for its April 2025 payments, including an extra financial aid aimed at helping vulnerable populations access essential food. According to ámbito.com (n.d.), this additional support is particularly focused on ensuring access to the basic food basket during a challenging economic period.

Inflation Adjustment and Government Support

As reported by ámbito.com (n.d.), the Argentine government has confirmed a 2.4% increase in benefits, reflecting the inflation data analyzed by the Instituto Nacional de Estadísticas y Censos (INDEC). This adjustment, guided by Decree 274/24 since July of last year, links social benefits to the Consumer Price Index (IPC) from two months prior, ensuring proportional increases.

In addition to this increase, Fernando Bearzi, the head of ANSES, has announced that certain beneficiaries will receive an extra payment. This includes those receiving the Asignación Universal por Hijo (AUH). This additional benefit, known as the Tarjeta Alimentar, is designed to bolster food security amidst the country’s ongoing nutritional emergency.

Who is Eligible for the Tarjeta Alimentar?

The Tarjeta Alimentar provides financial assistance specifically for purchasing food and non-alcoholic beverages, ensuring access to the basic food basket (CBA). It aims to improve food security for the most vulnerable sectors of the population. The beneficiaries include:

  • Holders of the Asignación Universal por Hijo (AUH)
  • Holders of the Asignación Universal por Embarazo (AUE)
  • Mothers with seven or more children receiving a Non-Contributory Pension (PNC)

Eligibility Requirements

To access this extra support, applicants must meet certain criteria:

Requirements for the Parent or Guardian:

  • Must be an Argentine citizen residing in the country.
  • Foreign or naturalized citizens must have a minimum of two years of residency.

Requirements for the Child:

  • Must be under 18 years old and single.

Requirements for a Child with a Disability:

  • No age limit.
  • Must be single, widowed, divorced, or legally separated and residing in the country.
  • Must have a valid authorization for collection issued by ANSES.

Initially, this benefit was intended for children up to 6 years old. In 2021, the age limit was raised to 14 years, and now, it extends to include those up to 17 years old.

Tarjeta Alimentar Amounts in April 2025

The Tarjeta Alimentar is exclusively for purchasing food and non-alcoholic beverages and cannot be used to withdraw cash or buy other products. The payment is deposited into the same account where beneficiaries receive their main allocation, such as AUH or AUE, and is automatically credited along with the monthly payment. According to ámbito.com (n.d.), unlike other benefits, the value of this bonus has remained frozen since June of last year.

The amounts for the Tarjeta Alimentar, depending on the number of children in the household, are as follows:

  • Families with one child: $52,250
  • Families with two children: $81,936
  • Families with three or more children: $108,062
