Infonavit Embarks on Ambitious Housing Project for Low-Income Workers

Octavio Romero Oropeza, the Director General of Infonavit, formalized the creation of the construction company by signing the constitutive act before a notary public. This move is expected to significantly impact the availability of affordable housing for a segment of the population often excluded from traditional housing markets.

Addressing the Housing Gap

Building 500,000 Homes During the Sexenio

The goal is to build at least 500,000 well-located homes with complete services during this presidential term to ensure that all Mexican workers, especially the most vulnerable, can exercise their right to adequate housing. The institute is actively collaborating with housing developers and builders, encouraging those with available land to participate in this historic project by constructing homes with the same quality, dimensions, and price as those built by Infonavit.

Progress and Future Plans

Infonavit has identified 153 properties, totaling over 470 hectares, where it can build more than 75,000 homes in 2025. Construction of the first 20,000 homes is scheduled to begin in April. This ambitious project underscores Infonavit's commitment to providing affordable housing options for Mexican workers.

Commitment to Quality and Location

Infonavit is emphasizing the importance of building homes in well-located areas with access to essential services. This is a key aspect of the «Vivienda para el Bienestar» program, ensuring that the new housing developments contribute to the overall quality of life for residents. The initiative also includes strategies to prevent fraud in credit access.
