Indriver Driver Murdered in Colombia

A driver for the Indriver ride-hailing service was shot and killed in Colombia after a collision with a motorcyclist. Another motorcyclist arrived on the scene and shot the Indriver driver multiple times, killing him. The incident occurred in the city of Barranquilla on Friday, August 26, 2022.

The victim

The victim was identified as Enrique Campo Pacheco, a 32-year-old father of two. Campo had been working as an Indriver driver for the past two years to support his family. His wife, Sandra Pacheco, said her husband was a hard-working man who was always trying to provide for his family.

The incident

The incident occurred at around 10:30 p.m. on Friday night. Campo was driving an Indriver vehicle when he collided with a motorcyclist. The motorcyclist fell off his bike and suffered minor injuries. Campo got out of his car to check on the motorcyclist when another motorcyclist arrived on the scene and shot Campo multiple times.

Campo was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The other motorcyclist fled the scene and is still at large.

The investigation

The police are investigating the incident and have not yet determined a motive. However, they believe the shooting may have been related to a road rage incident. Witnesses said the other motorcycle was driven by a man wearing a helmet, and they could not see his face.

The Indriver company released a statement expressing its condolences to Campo's family and friends. The company said it is cooperating with the police investigation and will do everything it can to help bring the perpetrator to justice.

Violence in Barranquilla

The murder of Campo is the latest in a series of violent incidents in Barranquilla. The city has been plagued by gang violence and drug trafficking in recent years. In 2021, there were over 300 homicides in Barranquilla, making it one of the most dangerous cities in Colombia.

The violence in Barranquilla has forced many residents to live in fear. Many people are afraid to go out at night, and they are constantly worried about being caught in the crossfire of gang violence.

The Colombian government has sent additional troops to Barranquilla in an effort to crack down on violence. However, the violence has continued, and there is no end in sight.
