The municipality of Tibú, in Norte de Santander, was struck by violence on Wednesday night as a merciless armed attack claimed the lives of Miguel Ángel López, his wife Zulay Durán, and their six-month-old baby. Miraculously, the family's 10-year-old son managed to escape the gruesome fate that befell his loved ones.

The heinous attack transpired on the road connecting La Y de Astilleros with Tibú, an area plagued by armed groups. Authorities revealed that the family was mercilessly ambushed with a barrage of bullets while traveling in their vehicle. Tibú's mayor, Richard Claro, confirmed that the motive behind the killings remains unknown, but he ruled out recent threats against López in an interview with Blu Radio.
